Channel Design - Located in Ashbourne, the gateway to the Peak District, are a family run firm of residential and commercial Derbyshire Architects and Interior Designers. We have over 20 years combined experience in both the residential and commercial sectors.

At Channel Design we offer a client led design service with as much or as little help as you require. We can take you from an initial brief & feasibility, right through the statutory process onto construction & completion of your project. Whether you require a full architectural service or just a planning application we offer the same friendly affordable service and high quality of work.

While many pay lip service to eco architecture, sustainable architecture or green architecture. Here at Channel Design we believe we offer real achievable environmental design solutions, using proven technologies to provide real results.

At Channel Design we have a wide range of experience from contemporary residential projects to listed/ historic building renovations or modern pub interiors.

About Us

Channel Design Ltd is a husband and wife team, Darren and Laura Archer, with over 20 years combined experience in the construction industry. We are a young practice with a rich and diverse knowledge base.

Darren qualified as an Architect in 2001 and prior to this date worked for six years at Peter Hathaway Design, interior designers specialising in the pub, restaurant & hotel industry. Before this Darren worked for a builder for three years so has seen the industry from both sides of the fence.

Before forming Channel Design Darren worked at Architect practices in Nottingham and Derby and was Project Architect on a variety of projects including one-off houses; domestic extensions; community centres; schools; churches and the award winning "Centre for the Children" in Nottingham, a flagship SureStart nursery and community centre.

Laura is a qualified interior designer with over nine years experience. After completing a degree in Interior Design she joined the family business, Peter Hathaway Design. Laura worked her way up to become a Senior Designer with experience in all areas of a project from surveying, colour schemes, furniture and lighting selection to preparing full tender, building regulation and planning drawings and overseeing jobs on site. Projects included traditional pubs; modern bars; restaurants; hotels; a day spa and domestic interiors.

While at Peter Hathaway Design Laura designed the "Goodnight Inns" hotel concept for Spirit and was part of the team that wo - "Designer of the Year" and "Consultant of the Year" from Scottish & Newcastle Ltd.

At Channel Design we listen to our clients and through our experience and technical knowledge provide cost effective, well designed solutions to their problems. With regular contact and progress reports our clients are involved and informed. We believe all briefs and solutions should be questioned and tested to ensure the final solution exceeds expectations.
